2026年1月22日 07:00 美国宇航局将阿耳忒弥斯二号火箭运往佛罗里达州发射场。火箭移动极为缓慢，仅四英里路程耗时数小时。
此次任务将时隔多年再度实现载人登月。上一次阿波罗登月任务发生在1960至70年代。在阿耳忒弥斯II计划中，宇航员将乘坐火箭顶部的太空舱绕月飞行，十天后返回地球，不会登陆月球。
美国宇航局计划于二月实施发射。此次任务将为未来登月计划积累经验，同时为人类未来更长久的太空探索奠定基础。
