柬埔寨揭幕了全球首座名为“马加瓦”的老鼠雕像。这只特别的老鼠因擅长在地下搜寻地雷而闻名。
马加瓦出生于坦桑尼亚，由一支来自比利时的团队进行训练。 在其职业生涯中，它共发现了一百多枚地雷及其他危险物品，帮助清理了超过14.1万平方米的危险区域，使这些土地重新变得安全。马加瓦是一只非常勇敢的动物，甚至因其工作表现而荣获一枚金牌。它于2022年去世，享年八岁。
位于暹粒市的新雕像展现了马加瓦佩戴着奖章和工作背带的形象。 由于过去战争遗留的旧地雷，柬埔寨至今仍是世界上最危险的国家之一。这些地雷至今仍可能伤人或致人死亡。政府希望在2030年前实现全国无地雷。这座纪念碑提醒世人，为了保障人民安全，还有大量工作需要完成。
