电影和电视导演以压倒性的票数批准了与好莱坞主要电影公司签订的为期三年的新劳动合同，以避免因正在进行的编剧罢工而发生第二次停工。

美国导演协会（DGA）宣布，87%的投票者支持与电影和电视制片人联盟（AMPTP）达成的协议，该联盟代表华特迪士尼公司和Netflix公司等主要电影公司。该协议包括增加基本工资，提高流媒体的剩余付款，以及保护人工智能取代成员的职责。投票的人数超过了以往的记录。

编剧们的罢工从5月2日开始，已经停止了各种电视和电影项目。虽然美国作家协会（WGA）和电影公司之间没有安排新的合同谈判，但预计导演的协议不会影响作家的立场。好莱坞演员也在与电影公司进行劳资谈判，如果在6月30日前没有达成协议，可能会举行罢工。
