微型公寓是指面积很小、设施很少、空间很小的地方，也不像住在大公寓或房子里那样舒适。
不过，它们在日本首都越来越受欢迎，尤其是在那些刚刚踏入职场、付不起普通公寓租金的年轻人中间，或者是在那些从外地搬到东京、想找个便宜住处的人中间。
每个微型公寓的面积只有 9 平方米，不到东京普通单间公寓面积的一半。这样做的好处是无需押金，也无需 ‘礼金‘（给房东的礼物，不可退还）。月租金从 380 美元到 610 美元不等，具体取决于您在东京的什么地方。
