美国 45 个动物保护区中的大多数都报告说，自大流行病发生以来，干草和谷物等必需品的价格居高不下。其中超过三分之一的动物保护区的成本翻了一番。卡茨基尔保护区是 200 只获救动物的家园。他们报告说，食物和医疗费用大幅上涨。与此同时，捐款也减少了。
创始人凯西-史蒂文斯（Kathy Stevens）担心，如果庇护所继续关闭，许多动物可能会饿死。也许有必要杀死它们。
