在布达佩斯，数千名抗议者聚集在匈牙利公共媒体公司 MTVA 的办公室外，要求获得更大的新闻自由。

抗议活动由反对党领导人、TISZA 党的佩特-马扎尔（Péter Magyar）组织，矛头直指被批评者称为为政府服务的 ‘宣传工厂‘。马扎尔是总理维克托-欧尔班最主要的反对党领袖，他说公共媒体散布谎言，歪曲事实。他所在的政党在最近的欧盟选举中获得了近 30% 的选票，并且越来越受欢迎。

媒体监督机构称，欧尔班的政党控制着匈牙利 80% 的媒体市场，威胁着新闻自由。Balázs Tömpe 和 Ágnes Gera 等抗议者对媒体的偏见和审查表示愤怒。

Magyar 呼吁公共媒体主管辞职，并敦促人们参加 10 月 23 日的另一场抗议活动，继续为媒体改革而斗争。
