欧洲审计法院的一份新报告显示，近年来欧盟的药品短缺已达到创纪录的水平。
在2022年至2024年10月期间，136种关键药品供应不足，其中2023年有48种严重短缺，2024年有46种。
欧盟 27 个成员国中至少有 21 个受到影响，其中比利时、西班牙和法国报告的问题最为严重。常用抗生素阿莫西林和用于治疗眼疾的维替泊芬都属于供应短缺的药品。原因包括需求增加、生产延误、生产能力有限以及能源成本增加。据估计，欧盟的生产成本比亚洲高出 20%-40%，导致原料和前体严重依赖亚洲供应商。
这种情况对患者和国家卫生系统造成了重大影响。各国的报告规则和库存要求各不相同，因此很难在欧盟层面对短缺情况进行比较或协调解决方案。
